PARC - Project Anekal Rajakaluve Connect

Details of the Project Feeder Canals specifics
I. Total of 15 kms of Rajakaluve - from Anekal Doddakere to Tamil Nadu border
II. Detailed survey will be done with the help of private agency/University students managed by government officials
III. The rajakaluve is a natural slope allowing water flow easily due to gravitational elevations
IV. An average of 25 feet width of Rajakaluve.

Project Implementation process:
1. Pre-start of work
• Topographic Survey and study using total station
• Catchment area delineation
• Soil Survey on the path of the rajakaluve
• DPR (Detailed Project Report) preparation as per engineering standards and guidelines provided by minor irrigation department
• Approval of the DPR from the respective government departments - minor irrigation, revenue, zilla panchayats and panchayats.
• Educating the communities and villages around on the importance of of this rajakaluve and the benefits it will bring to the community for many years, so they will join hands for release of encroachments exercise and also take responsibility of maintaining the rajakaluve post project completion.

2. Actual canal making Workflow
• Clearing of encroachments, if any
• Clearing of the pathway, kilometre by kilometre
• The actual canal dug as per DPR specifications
• Involving as many mannu vaddar diggers as possible
• Strengthening and turfing of the side walls as anti-erosion and anti-collapse for longevity of the drain/kaluve
• Planting of native plants/ trees that will help keep encroachments off and reduce silt flow into the kaluve.

Process of DPR has begun and is funded by The Wipro Foundation.
