Testing Campaign setup

Trained community emergency teams, exist globally, and provide immense security to neighbourhoods.

In India, community emergency teams have been individual driven, sporadic and largely ineffective, especially when the individual moves on. Our social fabric, differences and Geo political environment are added issues that these individuals have not been able to make the intended difference.

  1. The individual volunteer - while now protected under the Good Samaritan Law, 2016 – finds himself / herself inadequately prepared, ill equipped and with no support / fall back system to deal with the emergency.
  2. A case in point would be the current pandemic, many individuals volunteered to support and be engaged by the police to man the pockets of areas for enforcement of lockdown, food distribution, identification & serving the impacted, mapping data of migrants to be rehabilitated
  3. The lack of basic equipment like loudspeakers, first aid kits, and the absence of Structure & Planning on how to handle the crisis coupled with funding their own food, transportation and safety kits lead to these vast group of individual covid warriors getting dis-illusioned and choosing to drop off.

The largest lacuna: lack of basic training, getting necessary equipment and systems.

Neighbourhood Emergency Response Team (NERT: a not for profit, section 8 company) has been created to address this lacuna and ensure that the efforts of good Samaritans in Society makes the impact that the individual sought to achieve.

NERT envisages to prepare these individuals who raised their hand to get counted!
